Troubleshooting for All Other Alarms

(For most alarms installed prior to 11/2003)

Alarm will not arm or disarm when using remote
The remote provided with your alarm may require a new battery. Normally the battery will last for over a year. For details on which replacement battery to purchase, you can open the remote and read the part number on your battery or contact LoJack customer service. If you use a factory remote, contact your local dealer. The alarm can also be disarmed without a remote (see Bypass/Valet Mode).

Bypass/Valet Mode (disarming the alarm without a remote)
Your alarm can be deactivated, even if the alarm has been triggered. This feature is useful if your remote is lost or fails to work. In addition, you may want to use this feature when servicing your vehicle and you want to temporarily deactivate your alarm.

To enter Bypass Mode:
  1. Locate your valet switch (the valet switch is usually located in an unobtrusive location accessible to the driver).
  2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (last key position before vehicle starts).
  3. Within 10 seconds, gently press and hold the valet switch for 3 seconds and release.
  4. You have entered Bypass Mode correctly if your LED status light remains on.
To exit Bypass Mode:
  1. When you want to re-activate your alarm system, complete the same steps as above.
  2. You have exited Bypass Mode correctly if your LED status light turns off.
